Lowes Spring ACCESS Scholarship


The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Lowes are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) within the TMCF member-school network. The Spring ACCESS Scholarship is open to all students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Selected scholars will receive a spring semester merit scholarship of $3,100 (or less based on their account balance), which can be used to cover the costs of tuition and fees, on-campus room and board and required textbooks purchased from member schools. Students must meet the following minimum criteria to apply for the award:

Spring ACCESS Scholarship Requirements 


  • Open to all classifications with priority given to graduating seniors
  • Current grade point average of 3.0 or higher

  • Have demonstrated leadership ability through a variety of measures

  • Currently enrolled in school with an account balance

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551

To complete your application, please submit the following supporting documents (at the same time that you are completing the application):


  • Account statement from your university showing balance owed

  • Resume (include community service, leadership and employment/internship experience)

  • Student Aid Report (received from filing FAFSA)

  • Most recent transcript (applicants may upload a copy of either an unofficial or official transcript) and semester account balance

  • Recommendation from current school faculty member (must be as a PDF of letterhead with signature)


  • Essay:  *In a minimum of 500 words, please address ONE of the following questions:

  •                           1. Describe a significant setback, challenge or opportunity in your life and the impact that it has had on you. How did this experience enhance your leadership ability?

 

                           2. What inspired you to pursue a degree in your current field of study and what impact will it have on our society?
